TERRE HAUTE — Sycamore aviators are flying high this month as two of their own prepare for an all-women’s cross-country airplane race.
Melanie Abel and Kay Brown stood in a grassy area outside the Terre Haute Children’s Museum Sunday afternoon, leading children through pre-flight preparations inside a home-built “Space Walker” airplane.
Their teammates from Indiana State University’s aviation program helped with the demonstration, while inside the museum programs about airplanes served as a special send-off for the duo.
