See You in Terre Haute (and at the THCM)

If you don't speak French, don't worry, we're happy to translate the meaning of Terre Haute, which is "Higher Ground". It was named by French explorers, including Frances Vigo (our county) who settled this land, naming it for the high plateau overlooking the Wabash River.

With four higher education institutions, a world class cross country course, an outdoor music venue, state-of-the-art museums, an arts corridor, countless shops and restaurants, there's a lot to do and see in Terre Haute.

Plan your visit with plenty of time to venture out past the Terre Haute Children's Museum.
